The purple coin is thicker than the other coin. They are trackable on GxProxy.com

I got mine too.  The purple one is a GxProxy of the "real" geocoin that you can set free to travel.  They are trackable at Geocaching.com.

Thanks I didn't know that. I actually like the purple one.

Ah man! I have been waiting all day/night for my wife to get home with the mailbox key but ours didn't come yet. Hopefully tomorrow..

From the pictures they look awesome!

BTW sock puppet did you switch the pouches the coins are in between photos? My OCD is killing me over the switched piece of paper inside with the coin.

Nope. That's the way they came in the mail. Let me guess. Your favorite show is "Monk". J/k. But I do like Monk.

The tracking number on the "real" coin is on the edge.  GxProxy does a good job etching those aluminum disks.

Both Kalvey and I have not received our Washington County GeoTour coins in the mail yet. Has anyone who completed the series who was supposed to receive one not gotten theirs yet?

You could call the Welcome Center as they might know if your has been mailed out. Perhaps they are sending them out in batches as I completed the tour in February and you guys in March. I am just guessing.

the coins just arrived less than 2 weeks ago.  I've been chatting back and forth with jenny mills, head of the geotour.  they had delays in getting the coins and she put them in the mail quickly after arrival.  powerdog02 has his and I don't have mine yet...we live in the same house and I sent the passports in the same day, so it probably is just the USPS.

How do you know if you are supposed to receive a coin or not? I know it was only the 1st so many people who complete it.

I think they plan to give everyone a coin who has completed it.

According to the letter I received their is a limit of one set per household.

Here is what is said at the end of the letter.

P.S. We have awarded one geocoin per address. If multiple geocachers  live at the same address and each wants his or her coin set, you may purchase a second set for $12.

I should have grabbed powerdog02's letter and read it.  he kept it to himself... jenny didn't tell me that part in our discussions!  she confirmed she had received both of our passports and that we'd be getting ours.  oh well.

I got my coin today. Neat!

That was a quick turnaround as they received my passport on Friday.

WTF? It seems to me this would have been handy information which would have been useful on the "official" geotour page. I see they have it there now....under the "we've received the geocoins" heading, but was not posted anywhere prior to any of the first cachers doing the geotour.

IMO, this is dirty pool. In good faith, we completed the tour and (again, IMO) anyone who completed the tour prior to the notice being posted should receive their coins. Think I'll look up their FB page and post this there. Everyone is entitled to my opinion! :2funny:

When they passed out the Geico travel tags a while back, they were also limited to one per household.  I never got mine.  The next time they offered them, I requested one with my home address and one with my work address.  I think I even requested one using my wife's name and a non-existant address across the street from me (the postman "fixed" the error and delivered it to our house anyway).

Bottom line is, there are ways around the rules... >:D

I don't have a problem with them limiting it to one set or one coin per household...as long as they state that from the beginning.
