This weekend maybe on Saturday I was thinking of heading out to Paul D Rushing park doing some caching. Anyone interested in joining me?!?

Great series!  Some of the ones on the bird blinds are tough, so don't give up!

I would consider it Saturday.  It just depends on what we decide to do about hunter's education for my son.  He is signed up and possibly one of us needs to accompany him.  I do have that park on my radar...

Is 6 p.m. really when you are going to start your hunt?  This series takes quite a bit of time to complete and you'll be finishing up in the dark. Some of these are hard to find during the day much less in the dark.

hah....yea I am really gonna start at 6pm since that is when I will be able to squeeze it in. also, as my boyfriend would say, "what is an adventure when you do them in daylight? also, we got flashlights for geocaching...so doing them at night will be easy."

Keep your expectations low. It's easy to be frustrated when you can't find them, and that would be a shame.

Night caching can be tricky sometimes, and as some have stated previously, several of these hides are tricky to find even with multiple pairs of experienced eyes in the daytime .

Be sure to pay close attention to the difficulty ratings, so you don't get frustrated looking for a cache that is supposed to be tricky during the day and even more so at night.

I'm thinking that most of the containers out there are types you've not seen before and you won't be expecting which adds to the challenge (and fun as long as you accept that going in).

Hopefully your boyfriend won't get frustrated on you. Watch those ratings and pay attention to previous logs and hints! Be careful out there!

Spoken with real words of wisdom KeyResults!

Our first outings were entirely at night & I had no clue until later that "wow this is so much easier" [during the day]

Speaking as someone who does at least half of his caching at night I can say that Kenny is absolutely right with his comments. However, I'll balance that out by saying that I feel my daytime caching skills have significantly improved because of all my night caching.

Ironically, when the SBS series published, I was out in the middle of Armand Bayou grabbing FTF's on some of the new CLAPS caches, so about half of the SBS series caches had already been FTF'ed by the time I got there. I pulled up to the first unfound one and looked for it for several minutes and didn't find it (it was still light outside). I stopped back by that one on my way out (it was full dark by then), and I found it in about five seconds. Go figure. But, yes, in general daytime caching is much easier than night caching.

The opposite would be trying to find firetacks in the daytime.  :coolsmiley:

I've done that.

Me too!  On several occasions.  It's easy if you have a very strong flashlight.   :peace:

I might come join you for an hour or two, but things are still up in the air a bit.  I should be able to access this site "in the field" so I will post if I can make it, and maybe you can post what cache you are starting at etc.

How did you enjoy the park?  I loved caching in that area.  Still have more to do out there, and hope to come back after scout competition stuff and Arrow of Light is done.

today was a TERRIFIC day to geocaching :) the park was really nice. I have been to that park once but at night to look at stars with kids. Some of the caches were hard so I had to asked TexasWriter for hints. Overall, I enjoy the caches that were there and meeting a fellow cacher :) Today marks the day that I found 100th find :) :) I still have a couple of caches left to find so I will be coming back soon for the rest!

I saw that she posted some caches this afternoon.  I hope she liked it.  It is interesting to read the thread and hope you all have enjoyed your visits.  I was planning to go out and repair one of the caches tomorrow morning.  It is still there but much easier than the rating since it what holds the container broke.  Glad it didn't fall into the water though.  If you decide to go back and continue looking and you see people out there with two big white dogs, it will be me

I was typing as you posted that you got your 100.  Congratulations!!!  It was about at 100 when I got a little crazy about caching.
