What's in your geocaching pack?

We all have certain things in our geocaching packs... but what I'm interested in is:

1.  What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need? Depends!  The noun not the verb.

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?  The key to the lock on my straightjacket.

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?  Nose hair trimmer

4.  If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)? A Taurus Judge! (Google it!)

5.  What have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache?  Toyota FJ Cruiser. Oh and donuts!

Give me a break... I couldn't sleep.

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?

The light-bulb replacement tool I bought to change light-bulbs in the new house.  It worked and I got the cache, but it was destroyed in the process.

Sorry Crossmage...

Thank you to everyone.  This has been helpful.  Anyone have any other items not mentioned yet?

I carry a small compass for those times when I'm closing in on a cache in thick woods and I can't really move enough to get the GPSr oriented correctly.  Yeah, I could turn on the electronic compass in the 60Csx, but usually it needs calibration and I don't always want to mess with it at the time.

Actually had it, just as .jpg and not a real link, but figured PR would have said NO WAY.  :D

Special Tools Required! http://www.geocachin...7d-ef0a19d49b82 is fully re-enabled now that construction is done (there is a new sidewalk along a good portion of the way where there used to not be one.). All stages have been checked/maintained/updated/improved/etc. and it's like new.

If you take away the mossie component, now is a perfect time to do this one. PM me ahead of time if you plan on coming. If I'm home, I can be on standby to rescue you with the right tool. ;):P:angel:

I have to say that I have settled on 6 things that are huge for me:

1. 3 Liter Camelbak hydration pack.

2. A telescoping mechanics mirror

3. A telescoping walking stick (I have come to depend on this so much to poke and prod)

4. A nano cache log roller (an incredibly simple little gadget but extremely helpful)

5. Fisher Space Pen - Military model - writes on wet logs

6. Tactical LED flashlight - 200 lumens very small (expensive batteries but worth it)

As far as the thing bought specifically to go after certain caches: 29er mountain bike

1. What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need? - GPSr, I leave it at home too often and I use my phone, but I'll run off into dense foliage and be bouncing around for 15mins before zooming in on GZ.

2. What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache? - Mini saw on Swiss Army Knife - Cache was in shoe up on utility pole. I found a long broken branch but had to do a bit of cleanup before I could wield it well. Awesome hide by the way.

3. What is the most common tool you use in your pack? And, - PEN (toss multiple pens in your pack)

4. If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)? - A magic phone book w/ every cachers phone number in it so that after 45mins of looking for a muggled cache I could call and ask the owner (I'm sure that would make me a lot of friends ;-) )

5. Adding -- what have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache? - I haven't done it personally, but I know someone who purchased a gallon of water and some scotch tape. I never thought I'd buy a ticket for entrance to a location to get to a cache, but I've done so in China (twice), The UK and the US primarily (but also enjoyed the locals.)

For those of you who have not done Special Tools Required - http://coord.info/GC2MP88  you may want to put it on your to-do list for 2013.

I'm sad to report that there is a new subdivision going in where the first few stages are.  The first 3-4 stages will be wiped out.  Ground breaking slated for early next year.

Nobody has attempted this one (that I'm aware of) since my last walk-through.  I regularly check on the last half of it and know it's all good.  No reason to think anything is at issue with the first stages, either.   But I will likely do a full run-through this weekend at some point to make sure all stages are good and will post confirmation here after I've done that.

With the great spring weather, and the time it normally takes those truly attempting it to do it (without the answers), spring is definitely the time to dust off your tool belts and special devices you use for caching and get on out here.

Maybe there should be another FM event at the beginning to organize a run on the cache. When we did it the last time as a huge group it was a blast.

Great opportunity for a double flash mob event - one at the beginning and one at the final.

The event post will need coords for both locales...

Let me make a complete run though this weekend.  If I can get it done sooner, I will.  I'll poste when done.  Then it will be in tip top shape for anyone coming.
