What's in your geocaching pack?

We all have certain things in our geocaching packs... but what I'm interested in is:

1.  What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need?

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?  And,

4.  If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)?

5.  Adding -- what have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache?

I'll start.

1.  A pen that works.

2.  A couple of paper clips.

3.  Needle nose -- for those stuck nanos.

4.  A long reaching pole.  Or one of those cool, bright flaslights like in the recent thread.

1.  What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need?

I'm with you, cachestacker, on this one. I always seem to be without a working pen.

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?

I haven't been geocaching that long, so I haven't encountered a situation that required anything out of the ordinary.

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?

Not a tool per say, but I used a TON of hand sanitizer. :D

4.  If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)?

A never ending supply of Starbuck's ice cold passion tea lemonade.  ;D

Batteries, multi-tool, (I've been known to bring a machete), WATER WATER WATER, extra containers (if the mood strikes me),  Extra logs (if I ran into waterlogged caches), pens, string, cammo duct tape, band-aids and finally TP.

I also have a pair of gloves for those blind reaches into things from time to time.

5. what have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache?

A rope to string a path to the cache so i could remember the extract path to the cache in some really thick woods.  I just purchased a bicycle mirror that was on sale at target to read things under benches and enclosed spaces. I have a 21 speed mountain bike that has a very low gear so I can ride on wet grass.

Normally I would have to agree with you but I only have used it for GC25CXY.  (yes one of those evil soda tube trials) Honestly I believe most everyone who has attempted this one used a machete.  One thing I can admit is that since the machete was too dull I used it more as a diverter and less as a cutting implement.  I also learned that if you are going to use a machete then you need to wear gloves.  I was picking thorns out of my hands for days........curse you Aaron barbee!

1.  What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need?

It is always something and never the same thing twice.  It never fails.

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?

Out of the blue, someone will drive up and ask me if I am trying to find the cache and then gives me a hint.

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?

An SOG multitool

4.  If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)?

Nebulus703...... is a great choice, but an expandable 15 foot light-weight pole with hundred dollar bills loaded into the handle.  Well, you asked.

5.  Adding -- what have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache?

Rolls and rolls of black and camo duct tape

Machete (see: GC25CXY)

Telescoping magnetic rod with LED light on the end

1000 Baytown Bert wooden geonickels and I need to order another 500 asap

6.  What is your standard geocaching outfit?

I wear the most awesome hiking boots make by Timberland (WHITE LEDGE MID HIKER)

Camo pants with velcro side pockets

Shirt is optional for me being the extreme parking lot skirt lifter I am

White canvas Tilley hat

Hiking socks

1.  What do you find that most often you don't have in you pack that you need?

Travel Bugs.  I'll bring some with me in the cachemobile to leave in caches, but forget to actually take them into the field.

2.  What is the most unexpected thing that has helped you find or get to a cache?

A washer on a piece of string.  OK, actually that was in my cache placement/repair kit in the truck, but I needed it for a certain fishing cache.

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?

Tweezers -- for extracting logs from caches.

4.  If you could have anything in your pack at all, what would it be (besides the coords to a puzzle final)?

A Bat Beacon

5.  Adding -- what have you purchased (that maybe you never would have) JUST so you could get a cache?

A 24' collapsible pole, like used for a light bulb changer or a pool skimmer.  I was going to make different attachments for the end -- a hook, a grabber, a magnet, etc -- but since Aaron Barbee stopped putting out insane Soda Tube Trials caches, I haven't progressed any further on this project.  :P

trade items that fit into micro-caches.  (Mrs. MB usually keep the pathtag stash, otherwise I would have given them all away)

A piece of string and a paper clip.

3.  What is the most common tool you use in your pack?

a inter-changable screwdriver - has both phillips and flat heads

Man, I really need to get some more insane caches out.  Things have been busy for me lately and my weekends are tied up.  BUT, I'm working on that... AND a new series!  ;)

This new series will now be put on the front-burner as I've been dragging my feet WAY too long.

AND, Bert has gently reminded me I've been slacking in my maintenance.  I'm going to make a list and stick to it!

I was going to say something, but I let Bert do my dirty work for me.  ::)
