Souvenirs

I was just looking at the new one for 12-12-12, and didn't see one for 11-11-11. I know we went to one, because we came after our son's wedding, and I was wearing my tux! We have one for 10-10-10.

I'm also wondering how many Souvenirs people have. We have 58, 8 of them are for events, special days, or special places (HQ, Original Stash Location)

I'm also missing 11-11-11, but I figured I just didn't find a cache that day. I have 48 souvenirs, with 10 being for special days, events, and caches (APE cache, 10 year event, Leap Day 2012, etc.) I have 33 states, 4 Canadian provinces and the Czech republic. Odd that that's the only country of the 5 European countries I've found caches in that has a souvenir.

Somehow I have a souvenir for Utah, and I've never found a cache in that state... ???

HC - likely a traveling cache.

They didn't have a souvenir for 11-11-11. You'd think, though.....

Too many references to "Spinal Tap"

Sitting at 22 Souvenirs right now. My first find was 10/15/10 so I missed 10/10/10, but I've gotten the recent date based ones.

Date Based: WWFM IX, Leap Day 2012, 12/12/12, International Geocaching Day.

Mega/Special Events: 10th Annual Texas Challenge - Mega, 2012 Block Party, 2012 Going Ape - Mega.

Special Locations: Groundspeak HQ, Original Stash Plaque

States: AR, FL, IL, IN, LA, MD, MS, MO, OR, TN, TX, WA

Foreign States: DE (Hessen Germany) - To bad there aren't any for some of the other countries I've visited.

Felt a bit ripped off that they didn't create a Souvenir for International Earthcache Day. I know many of us went out of our way on this day to go get an Earthcache. To be honest, with the limited number of Earthcaches, I feel it should have been higher priority to give a Souvenir than any of the other special day events.

HC - likely a traveling cache.

You'd think my other statistics would reflect a Utah find then, but my map of that state is blank. Maybe I got the souvenir and then the cache moved on to another state?

In my GSAK "My Finds" database, I've corrected coordinates on all traveling caches to the coords where I actually found the thing, and then locked the cache to prevent it from updating.

I had the same thing happen with the Lewis and Clark traveling cache (corp of Discovery). When I logged it Log Dawg had just brought it back from LA, and since it had not been dropped in TX yet, it still had LA coordinates. Therefore I got a LA souvenir.

HC / Eagles -- I discovered my issue with the one at the UFO event. My largest distance, at the time, was to a place I had not visited. Discovered that cache was the cause. My souvenirs disappeared when it moved to other states. I had Hawaii for a while.

I also had the LA due to Discovering "Corps of Discovery" while it was here but had the old LA coords still. For a while I had OR w/o a having done a cache in OR. I accidentally logged a cache by the same name on c:geo (had used GPSr to find it, but did a search for the cache name to log it in the field) and I accidentally logged the wrong cache. I deleted my log, but the Souvenir remained. That said I fixed the situation later by getting a cache in Oregon.

CS: I wonder if they changed the way they handle Souvenirs that have moved since I still show LA due to Corps of Discovery and I didn't get any other states when it moved.

Missing a Souvenir from an event you know you attended?

One reason may be that you logged the wrong date. Then even after you realize what you did and corrected the date on GC.com, still no Souvenir :(

Guess what? BFF 2katz and I found a way to fix it. The solution is to log it again, then delete the original log. Wait a day or two and Voila'! You'll find your Souvenir where it belongs. :)

No statute of limitations or anything like that. You can go back as far as you need. The system just doesn't find "changed logs" for some reason. The date must be correct on the original log for special days (such as Leap Day, WWFM, etc.) If you accidentally log the incorrect date, you MUST delete that log and re-enter it on the correct date of the special event. Enjoy!

PEACE

Sounds like you need to get out of Texas a little more often. :blackeye:

That is cool Larry.  Is that the first time they have used a photo in the badge?  I hadn't seen that before.   Maybe we will see more come out faster if they don't have to all do original artwork for them.  Maybe.

Yeah, I really loved all the new souvenirs.... I scored 4 new ones (out of 6 published... not a bad score, I'd say ;)): Belgium, Italy, Brazil & Greece.

Initially I was surprised a country as big as Brazil didn't have one, but that has been changed now.

Happy New Year Y'all!
