Warning - Do not park here if you're entering GBP from the West.

Yesterday we went caching in GBP and I attempted to park where I have normally parked many times.

The location is here... 29.75235,-95.720198. Needless to say.. don't park here.

One of the residents came out and harassed us. Said we didn't have the right to park on her street and implied vehicle damage by her son and or herself. The lady was not stable. I said my piece and we left.

If on the weekends I would suggest parking at the elementary school and entering from Mason Creek.

Alternatively, you could tailgate someone through the gate and either park near the treatment plant or park very near the trail that you originally planned to take....

I think that parking on a public street that doesn't say "no parking" is perfectly all right. Let her damage my vehicle and I will call the police.  :police::tickedoff:

OHL - while I totally agree in principle --

She'll screw up your car and for you -- she'll steal your winch.  And nobody will see. Then you're just screwed.  And winchless!

Best to just avoid the crazies if you can.  Especially when you know ahead of time.  :crazy2:

True on the trouble but there is very little chance that winch is coming off. I should show you sometime how the install went.

I called Harris Country Sheriff's office. She can talk all she wants but until she does something...

I called the HOA for that neighborhood. They have no power over public access streets. If the car is unattended for 72hrs they can have it towed.

So it's best just to avoid "her" street.

Apparently people block her driveway and make it difficult to back out and that people were not allowed to park on "her" street.

I just will take my *rental geo-mobile* from Avis and park there.  When she is going all *crazy* all over the car, I will just call the sheriffs department and let Avis sue her!!

I have purchased insurance for the rental, little did I know that I never hand *rental* insurance for any rental cars I have used.  I apologize to Kirbydox because we have rented more cars, with I being the main renter and assuming I had rental insurance.  Gosh, all those places we went 4 wheeling, drove like *mad cachers* and I *never* had the insurance to do so!!  LOL!!  Oh and apology to Nov64 and fendmar, they were in the rental at GW8!!  LOL!!

Old *Stuck Bucket* is in the Collision Specialist -- er I mean *Auto Spa* getting some TLC.

I usually park closer to the stop sign.  Doesn't block the driveway.    I've also parked a little more to the north on the next block up, and walked back a few hundred feet.

Parking near the Elemetary school is iffy.  You take a chance that the small gate in the fence is closed.  Last time I was there, it just had a rope holding it shut.

Oh!  You're evil......but we love the way you think!  >:D

This just -has- to be a flashmob!!!!  O0 O0

Of course, if GC found it this was done to antagonize her they might not like it but there's no rule against having a non-geo related flashmob.....and if it IS organized, it should probably be on the "private" section of the board.....just sayin'.....

The rope is just a loop slipped over the post to keep it shut. There is no provisions for a lock or even a latch on the gate. I made sure to check.

Can't we just celebrate a new cache in GPB?  ::)  Isn't there always one of those?  Or some milestone reached by someone on a cache in GPB (maybe close to GZ)?  Or, just -- anything?

And if this is a primary access point for GBP, or even a less primary access point but still on a public space, then why would we even consider holding back on a flash mob event?

It's not like we're going there to tip cows or anything.   Set it up and let's have some fun.  O0  Just don't block the driveway.  :police:

Perhaps the event should consist of opening and closing every door, trunk, and hood of your vehicle to be concluded with activating your car alarm if you have one. :2funny:

It wasn't just that she felt her driveway was blocked, it was also that "this is where her kids play" and parking there is in the way of her son playing basketball and also his ball might hit a car, and she is "NOT paying for damages" if that happens.

She said she called the constable the night before and had someone towed who parked there, she says it gets just too much traffic from people accessing the walking trail, and it is NOT the only public access point, and that only residents of the neighborhood are allowed to park there.  Allegedly...

It's usually a losing battle to argue with anyone like that.    :tickedoff:

A public street belongs to the public. If only residents are allowed to park there it needs to be marked before they are allowed to tow a vehicle.

Not that I'm normally the voice of reason, but let's consider a few things.

She (the resident) is being a jerk.  Big surprise, lot's of people are.

We need/want/MUST HAVE access.

Parking there is legal and CONVENIENT.

We could be nice about it and NOT block her driveway.  Not draw unwanted attention to ourselves in a park where the law enforcement folks basically let us do pretty  much what we want.  See ... too many logs to mention.  Or we could piss off a resident and draw the attention of law enforcement types that might find other ways of dealing with her problem.

Or she could deal with it herself by ... screwing with your car.  Yeah, you have a potential civil action against her, good luck ever collecting.  She could request the neighborhood limit that access to the park, a gate, a gate with a lock, a new fence, no more gate, iron bars, who knows, basically, we all lose.

We could, basically be nice about it and park a few houses down.  Yeah, we probably just piss off other neighbors, but maybe we spread it around enough that nobody gets totally pissed.  Her son, gets to play basketball, skateboard, and break his and her stuff and not our cars.  We don't draw unwanted attention of johnny law.  She likely chills.  Now, if she goes after folks for parking down the street and still using the entrance, fine, gloves come off.  But until that happens, this is likely NOT a fight anybody really wants.  And besides, aren't we really just trying to have fun and NOT piss muggles off.

What's that old saying, treat others as you would like to be treated.  Notice, it says nothing about what they deserve.
