Clear Lake Trivia

Well, I started off working the Clear Lake Trivia puzzle this afternoon, but ran into a snag. The "Meat Shop" at waypoint 3 lost its refrigerator in the storm and it has been replaced with an "International Cold Storage" model which will not fit in the blanks provided. I can identify the location of the shop to prove I was there if anyone can provide me with the brand name of the old (pre-Ike) refrigerator. I need to get this one off my proximity alert because I work very near the starting point for this puzzle, and the alarm is starting to drive me nuts.  :idiot2:

If I remember, the name of the fridge is on a painting on the wall. I think...

I did that cache, but was able to figure it out without the name of the fridge.  I think someone later told me it was a Hobart.  O0

Thanks for all the replies. Mrs. MB reminded me of the painting on the wall, (which was destroyed in the storm surge) and I know the painting well enough to know that Larry is right, the fridge was a Hobart.  On to the next clue!  O0

How 'bout this Clear Lake cache?

I know it is hexidecimal and backwards(?), but what do I do with that.

Use an ascii chart to convert the hex values to characters.

I'll have to tell Jim, that you cheated on his cache.  ;D

J/K.

He introduced me to geocaching a few years ago.

Cheating? I'd call it going above and beyond to solve the unsolvable puzzle.. to dream the impossible dream... <cue violins> to reach the unreachable star.

Cheating?  :knuppel2:

Got it. Thanks. Now, I am wondering if it survived Ike.

Probably... if a tree didn't fall on it.

On Clear Lake Trivia -- you can get a lot of the answers with GoogleEarth, GoogleMaps (Street View) and Maps.Live.Com (Bird's Eye View).  O0

Talk about cheating!  ;)

Educated guessing comes into play a lot and it helps to be an arborist.  :D

Yep, I started that one a while back, but couldn't figure out the tree type. I need to go back and finish that one sometime.

PM me and tell me what to look for. I was in Seabrook, less than 20 feet off trail in some pines and came up empty.  :'( :'( :'(

I couldn't find Clear Lake Trivia either, but I was in the landscaping and knew I could pop by again any ol' time. I'll wait for Freysman to find that one.

As for cheating...just tell me where the dang cache is. I hate DNFs! :crazy2:

Wait no more. I found it in fine condition this morning on its precise coordinates.  :)

Could any of the previous finders for Clear Lake Trivia check and see if it is indeed still there? I solved the puzzle and think I have the right coords. I can PM the coords I came up with to verify they're right. I came up empty when I looked last weekend. It hasn't been found for a couple years, so thought maybe muggled. I emailed CO and haven't heard back yet.

As noted on the cache sheet, Rhonda and I replaced the container so it should be there. Good luck.

I should clarify... I worked out #7 and am still working on the jumble.  But ATMA, it was your replacement log that prompted me to start working on the puzzle a couple months back and I picked it back up today.
