  1. Geocaching merit badges.

I asked one of reviewers (Reviewer Reven) if a scout could release a trackable instead of hiding a cache and get credit for the badge and he thought it was so. This would keep a lot of Scout caches from being abandoned.
  2.'s name search

  3. How much climbing

In the world of geocaching, a fire hydrant terrain rating of 5 is like climbing Mt. Everest to many of us. LOL I say stick a 2.5 on most of them and you cover the age spectrum nicely. The whole idea of these ratings mean little to nothing to most of us. Again I laugh, because we all see what we want to see.
  4. New Shuttle?!?! And a Canada souvenir too?

I'll be there in my underwear!
  5. Baytown Geotour info here

HoustonControl and I are meeting with the Baytown tourism director to start to plot out exactly how the Baytown Geotour will work. The money has been approved BTW. As with any geotour, the amount of money you spend doing it is very important to document. When you turn in your passport, make sure you document the bucks spent. Zipping into geotour country and zipping out will kill the program. Baytown's geotour will be funded by a hotel/motel tax. I think any city hosting a geotour through pays $3000 per year to be listed. Now of course, none of us locals will probably spend the night here, but we'll buy gas and burgers for sure.
  6. I had a hard drive crash and just re-downloaded the .exe file.

  9. Pokemon GO

I saw two boys on bikes today at the event in Seabrook playing the game. I was waiting to hear the crash. LOL
  10. Pokemon GO

What I see here is small businesses, like ice cream parlors, placing a Pokemon inside their store to attract youngsters playing the game. Other than that it is a fluff game. YMMV JuleeD and I are teaching LEO's on the 23rd and we will cover the differences between that game and the real game of geocaching.

  15. Lost Maples State Park in summer

I can't say for certain if this works 100%, but rubbing baby oil or Gojo into your legs, then spraying down with insect spray may just create an oil barrier and prevent chiggers from getting a bite. It will also create an oil barrier for poison ivy. I know when I used Cedarcide, I did not get chiggers. The stuff is just expensive. Gojo is cheap.
  16. Laminating for TB Info Sheet + "Trinket" Idea?

  18. Happy Hours

If you get FTF magazine, I have an article published about how to write a great log:
  19. Sketchy Geocache Location

I've been there twice. Terrible trashy area behind what? A Home Depot? I'd save it for winter when the brush is lessened, or just skip it. Coords seemed to be off and container description was wrong: "This one took about 10 minutes before I spotted the "small" container. It's a bigger vitamin bottle that necks down about chest high on a tree. SLTFTC! No sign of the hobo except for all the trash."
