Three deer were at S CLAPS 54 today. Shallow area and I needed to get to GZ. I got to within 25' and 2 jumped up on land but turned around to watch me. I got to 20' and the front of my yak was pushing into the hyacinth. I stopped and the little one on the right in this video started walking to me like a dog. Then about 10' from the front of my yak it realized its friends were gone so it bolted to be with them.Maintained the cache and I could hear them walking back to the lake. When I was a ways away they were playing in the water. Eating the hyacinth (or something) and splashing the water with their front feet. Was a really cool paddle moment. Sorry -- can't get it to pull in the Instagram video (Cachestacker) although it shows it in the preview. IMG_7525.mov
Welcome aboard. Have seen your name on some logs. There is a paddle event on 8/30 -- look at the maps (Bay Area Park) and shout box. I'm actually off to do some maintenance on the south end right now. Hope to see you out there!
Howdy all!! I (Shaun) of the family have been lurking around the forums for a while and decided to sign up finally. We are a family of four mom and dad and two young kids that love caching. We have been caching for a bit over a year now, and still loving the hunt. I just purchased a gently used kayak and hope to someday grab some of these CLAPS series I see and hear so much about. We have met a few of you guys at some events and hope to attend many more.
Just this past week I did a trial run on all the caches in Jenkins park in Baytown before MarineBuck and I took the Outsiders Science club cache there. In one cache was an unopened condom, which I removed. Very weird seeing it was found by a reputable geocacher 2 months ago.
