I'm getting a lot of this lately, so before I delete their extra logs, I send them this email:  "Hi!  You accidentally logged this one twice, so I am deleting the extra log.  Thank you for playing."  Anyone else seeing this?

We've seen it a few times.

I've had it a few times lately.  But I have not paid attention enough, nor had the time, to worry about them doing it or deleting them.  I presumed they did it from the app in the field and were not sure it was logged and did it again.  I'll try to do that, too.  Would like to have known on the one that dogged me for some time.  Fortunately, for those that stay in the game any length of time, "There's a macro for that."

How exactly do you handle it?  I do not want to scare off a newbie by deleting their logs.  Yesterday, one person logged the same one 5 times and I sent them a note.  Today, they logged it again.

I've noticed it too, guess it's either the app or some other tool they're using that screws things up.

I think you're handling it way better then I am, I just delete the extra logs :)

Just got one on one of mine.  2nd and 3rd find, lol.  Deleted one and sent an e-mail explaining it and asking if they used the app.

When I just started cached I received a note from the cache owner that I had logged one of their caches twice. I appreciated them letting know so that my cache count was correct.

I sometimes send them an email (if their account is even verified), but seldom delete their logs.

I explained that.

I only deleted the dupe.  Surprisingly, with only 3 2 finds, their account was verified.

I think one difference was the cache owner let me know about the duplicate log and I was the one that deleted the log.

Yes,davarle, I get it (and I pretty much know it wasn't David)

Sometimes my app double logs finds, usually when it says that it wasn't sent, and saves it for later.  This summer, one of our logs was deleted, and we didn't know why.  We were not happy campers!  I sent an e-mail, and the owner let us know that it had been double logged, and she was just 'helping us'.  I would have appreciated a heads up beforehand.   When I get one on one of our caches, I let them know that it was double logged, especially if they don't have many finds.

When you delete a log, does it send some kind of notification to the logger?  If not, I wouldn't think it would be a big deal to just clean up behind them if they accidentally log it multiple times.

Yes, it does.  That's why I send a courtesy email.

I had a newbie log my Daisetta Sinkhole earthcache without sending the required email. They created their geocaching account a week ago, but logged the cache with a date of May 5, 2010. Whaaaa? ????

It has happened to a lot of us where you hit the submit button and nothing happens so you hit it several more times. Next thing you know... BOOM, they all go in, resulting in multiple logs.

As long as my find is still logged once, I certainly would appreciate the CO deleting my extra duplicates.   I've had it happen when I'm logging from my phone on the road where I don't have good cell coverage.  I usually can't easily get back in to delete the extra until I'm back in civilization.  If the cache owner has already taken care of it for me, then they make my life easier.  I certainly don't expect them to have to do this for me if they are not so inclined though.

Could be a kiddo that has grown up to their own account and is cherry picking from their parent's founds.
