Bert,

Congratulations on your nomination for Geocacher of the Month! We're glad you play such a significant role in the worldwide geocaching community and have for years. You are an exceptional inspiration - and those comments from your fellow Texans are something to relish.

All the nominees shared the joy of geocaching in their own unique ways. The choice was difficult. Ultimately, we’re able to only choose one nominee based on a combination of community input, blog comments and voting. I think we all won seeing such examples of how the geocaching community works together.

hurleyanne received the Geocacher of the Month award for April. Although you are not the Geocacher of the Month, we know your nomination helped serve a great example for others in the geocaching community about enthusiasm, hiding and maintaining great geocaches and contributing to the greater geocaching community. We'll post the blog shortly making the announcement public.

We'd like to honor your geocaching example by sending you a special gift - including the new Geocaching HQ Geocoin. Please let me know an address to send the gifts from Geocaching HQ.

Thank you again,
Eric

Well shoot. If i'd have known the actual blog post counted I would have recounted the story of the time you saved me and my eighteen children from a wild boar in GWB park. :disappoint:

Like the folks who voted for her said, "She likes geocaching a lot!" and that folks carries a lot of weight.  I just kinda like it.

By that definition I could be Geocacher of the Month myself! I feel a bit dissed for not being nominated now. ;-)

Maybe hurleyanne was born in channelview and GC considered it a sympathy win. Anything is possible I they think she "likes" geocaching more than BB ( or jhawk! :) ) Just sayin.

I wonder if the fact that she is Canadian played a role or if it was primarily on votes alone.  Having grown up in Washington state and having lived in Seattle for quite a few years, I know that there can be Canadian sympathizers in Groundspeak.

Whenever people really start talking about securing our borders, I like to point out that one can wander back and forth across our northern border at will in many places.

I know one thing.  The person who is supposed to update the blog is probably lousy at maintaining their caches.  :2funny:

If I win, I promise it will not go to my head.  On another note, my 2016 (or whatever) Presidential fund raising coffee mugs are now on sale.  One dollar from each sale will go into my pocketses to buy your influence and help make me a fat cat politician like Hillary Clinton.

I had to withdraw my nomination.  I'm going to try and keep my position in the TXGA... hopefully.

Interesting mix of printing and cursive. Is this a puzzle cache?

There are many much more accomplished cachers than me and that is undeniable.  I am simply a master of self-promotion and that is the truth.  Our area has folks who have upwards of many, many finds and are icons of geocaching.  They've been faithfully finding caches for years and attending and publishing events, placing and maintaining caches, and spreading good will everywhere they go.  They far eclipse the person who won and me and are much more deserving of the title than I am.  I say, put your vote on one of these folks and let's grab one for Texas.

BB--you may certainly nominate someone else, and we may certainly nominate you again--or didn't you like the swag?
