the first time I caught my first cache was at night and I went with my boyfriend. he always told me that if I ever went at night to be careful and make sure to watch my surroundings. also, every time we go he would carry his gun with him because he tells me that there are CRAZY people out at night :/ bwahhh!

I was in the neighborhood and stopped by the HEAR THIS cache and ran into a former cacher that I did the Four Cache Loop. mjbrowner. She is into birdwatching now. The building was the former home of the Mayor of Bellaire. I took a self guided tour of the home. Lily the bunny was outside in her home trying to keep warm.

can anyone explain to me the symbols (like the box, ghost, letter, etc) by the cache when I'm on the geocaching website?

So THAT'S what those mean. I've just been seeing a symbol on the map, grabbing a machete (as Bert taught me), and running out the door. :)

Do you mean the APE caches. I just noticed that there are lab cache for testing that are very rare.

There may be some lab caches in Houston for Geocoinfest later this year. Maybe...

Been working a lot and just trying to catch up on the happenings.    Did I miss the birthday 'day' above?    If not, I may be able to join you since I'm up in our neck of the woods.

I don't know how old your son is, and this isn't close to home, but there's a Dinosaur Train cache down by UofH.

I've got some events in the queue that are kid-friendly, and will help the new people meet the other cachers that have been around for a while.  They are at parks with lots of caches.  Hopefully you can come to those with your son and meet some of us in person.
