My Garmin Nuvi 2455 keeps tracking me saying I am on the feeder road.  This really screws with me in the big city, as I am on the freeway and miss my turn off, as it thinks I'm actually already there.

The second thing it has started doing is expressing less frequent verbals.

I use Garmin Express for all my firmware and software installations and have calibrated the screen, but can't figure out how to calibrate the device with the satellites.

That must be incredibly frustrating. Thoughts:

1) I wonder if somehow the map datum has changed on the map source or the device so they are out of sync?

2) Garmin have really gotten into profiling use too, claiming better accuracy. I wonder if the unit thinks you're into atv or pedestrian mode or something?

3) Maybe it makes sense to flush with a refreshed install, or backrev the update for the device. Garmin is real good about making back revs available, the process for manually back revving the firmware/maps is probably similar to GPSr and not that hard once you figure out where the ftp site is for your unit.

Just brainstorming a little...

Bert, maybe your package wasn't delivered as expected when you bought it. I hacked this video out of your front porch security camera.

Mine tends to do that on the Katy freeway on the west side, due to old maps.  There I'm routinely driving in lanes that are where the feeder road USED to be.

Dear Bert Marshall,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. If your device isn't being accurately tracked by the satellites, I recommend you perform a master reset on this nuvi 2455.

To perform a master reset on a nuvi 2405 series device:

Note: A master reset will erase all favorites1 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites you can find instructions to do so here

.

  1. Start with the device turned off and unplugged from power
    • To verify the device is powered off and not in standby mode, press and hold down the power button until prompted to turn off the device
  2. Press and hold the lower right hand corner of the touchscreen
  3. Power the nuvi on
  4. Remove your finger when a message appears that says "Erase all user data?"
  5. Touch Yes
    • If text language is not in English, this is the button on the right

The device will now be reset.   Follow the on-screen prompts then place the device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

1Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.

With Best Regards,

Henry

I did it and we'll see.  I bought the lifetime map updates and that's when the trouble began.

Okay, FYI.  It did not work and they told me it was covered under warranty.  I followed their instructions, sent it in and a week later a refurb unit arrived.  Guess what?  It would not update and after 30 mins on the phone, I'm sending it back for another refurb unit.  :(  I am throttled around the throat over this.

Received the 2nd refurbished Garmin Nuvi 2455 in the mail this afternoon and it crashed on the mapupdate and no amount of manipulation will allow Garmin Express or mapupdater to recognize it.  Garmin Express launches the second I attach one of my Oregon's though.  So, now its the weekend and once again, no Nuvi or anyone at Garmin to yell at until Monday.  :tickedoff:

I talked to Garmin on Monday and after going through all the hoops, they are warrantying this third unit and I am buying a Nuvi 2557LMT with lifetime maps for about $80 including shipping. Two months of problems to get this new unit.
