Pirate Gold, http://www.geocachin...3c-eead56b28480, a tour of the rum distillery in San Leon, is on the calendar for noon on Dec 14. Kelly Raillean, the owner, has confirmed our reservation for the 12 noon tour and suggested we arrive 15-20 minutes early to get the group set up and organized, like that ever happens. The tour costs $5 and gets you a walk through the distillery, a good understanding of the distilling process, a Raillean rum shot glass and a lot of chances to fill that shot glass with samples of their excellent rums and agave spirits.

The tour should only take about an hour and will give us plenty of time for last minute tune-ups on our kayaks for the night/light parade on Armand Bayou that night. Loading up on anti-freeze may be a good choice before we head out into the dark, dark bayou!

I may need this tour if I decide to go turtle and play u-boat commander later on.
Have to watch Das Boot to get ready :)

It is a fascinating place and they make some killer rhum. The owners are very friendly...I was down there with my sister and brother-in-law (from Pensacola) when we did the tour. We were the only ones taking the tour that day so they decided to give us multiple samples of everything they make!

If Raillean had been there when I lived on Second Street in the 80's, I'd probably never had made it out!

I like the idea of a designated paddler even if I haven't had anything to drink.
