Got the word a little late to make this a caching event, but Rice, SHSU, Texas State, LSU and a bunch of other college teams will be playing quidditch at Rice University on Sat Oct 5th from 9 til 4 on the intramural fields, ~N 29 43.080 W 95 24.350.

They held a similar tournament in Bear Creek Park last year and a lot of cachers and muggles came out to see the carnage.

Quidditch comes from the Harry Potter stories, and as it is played at the college level it has some soccer, basketball and dodge ball blended together. All played at ground level at high speed while holding a broomstick between your legs.Pretty fun to watch.

My daughter Beth plays for Texas State and we've enjoyed watching her team play in tournaments in Austin, College Station and Florida. UT is currently the best team in the world, having won the World Cup in April, but A&M and Baylor are close behind.

Come on out, bring a chair and a cold beverage, watch an exciting game and enjoy the multitude of caches around Rice.
It was hot last year but hopefully will be a bit cooler this time. The games start at 9AM and each game runs 30-45 minutes. Each team will play 2 or 3 times in the morning, they'll break for lunch, play more games in the afternoon and the final should be decided by 6PM.

Texas State has maroon and gold colors and we'll be hanging out with them.

Bump for the tournament, just saw the schedule, lots of good match-ups in the morning, like UT vs A&M at 9:30,

and then UT vs Baylor and LSU vs A&M at noon. Bracket play in the afternoon runs from 1:30 to 4:30. Each game takes about 20 minutes

We'll be following the Texas State maroon team, watching them beat up on those Rice future-bosses at 10 on Field 1.

Stop by, have a look and a laugh.
