I saw this today and had to come see if we as a community were aware.  Searching didn't find anything, so I will share it here.

New game of "Muggling" encourages players to steal geocaches and hold them hostage.

Talk about a "my first website" project. Whoever designed their site is an idiot when it comes to site design. Putting that aside, I'll say this: whoever the brain child is in the video (he might have 3 or 4 actively firing brain cells), I'm sure he's probably representative of the type of person who is actually going to be interested in this kind of muggling "game." If they think the whole idea won't be inflammatory and actual participation won't start a holy war, they are certainly not thinking clearly. Candidate for the Darwin Awards for sure....

I went to the site and then when my wife (CornDoll) went to the site 10 mins later it was down. I refreshed my page (which was still up) and got the same unavailable message:

"you hafta pay to sign up to possibly get your item back ($10) .. if you dont within 30 days, they video it being destroyed and post it on their site."  According to one guy who went to the site before it went down.

If this ISN'T a scam site, GC.com needs to ban this guy for life IMO.

He says in the video he was a geocacher for years. Yeah right. I can't see anyone who actually put a significant amount of time into finding and placing caches being onboard with muggling anyone's caches. It goes against the very core of what we do as cachers.

I can't see WANTING to pay $10 to join even if that was up my alley.  Why would I pay $10 to muggle when I can do it all day for free?

But someone needs to identify this guy and simply kick his a$$.

We have suspended the www.muggled.net
website in an effort to appease our OTGC members primarily and other geocachers. We wanted to put a little twist to the sport. Kind of like football when a pass is thrown and it's intercepted, but realize maybe not such a good idea. We apologize for any inconvenience, but appreciate our members thoughts and feelings about it. Hey what better way to know about something when you ask a big group of people We at OTGC will continue to geocache and enjoy it as well as all of you!

Please note: No geocaches by any OTGC member was or has been muggled by [MDN] (not only because it was a new site, but we have to look out for OTGC geocaches as well )...

I bet the guy in the video wishes he could get a do-over big time. He needs better advisors, since he obviously is incapable of long-term rational planning and thought. I guess the sad part is the likely number of losers and degenerates who actually do this kind of thing already and think it's a good use of their time. I suspect there are many more than we think.
