I sent this out today to a few of you for whom I had an email address for.

As many of you already know I am running for TXGA President. You may
ask yourself what is the TXGA. It is the Texas Geocaching
Association. TXGA.NET or Texasgeocaching.com. basic membership is
$5.00 get s you a card and voting rights. $15.00 gets you a pathtag
and trackable coin. What does this membership get you besides the
card? Well that is what I would like to change. I think at minimum
more communication is the key.

1. A State of the Union from the President at least once a year to all members.
2. Monthly communications of what is happening and going on in Texas
and beyond.
3. Region geocachers of the month and then State geocachers of the month.
4. Work out with a Geocaching supplier a discount for all TXGA
members. AKA Make it TXGA Approved
5. Continue to build a great relationship with the Texas State Parks.
My experience with the State Forest System will help me in this goal.
6. Work with Groundspeak on new ideas. Such as a Texas specific
geocaching tour.

These are just a few of my key points. There are so many more ideas
that we can work together to ensure TXGA builds for the future and
embraces the past. If you would please vote for me in the upcoming
election I will do my best for Texas Geocachers.

Please forward this to your geocaching friends in Texas

Sincerely,
Brent Kitchens

Thank you for your post Brent. I had seen your nomination on TXGA but I did not know who Brent Kitchens was. I have heard about you before but only with the use of your caching name. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Early voting has started.  If you are not a member it is only $5 for the year.   I would appreciate all the help I can get.  Please also vote for Gary Foster for VP.   Below is a copy of my previous email as well. Could you also forward this to anyone in Texas who caches and could vote that would be great.

I can't vote because I can't log in :tickedoff:

I'm was registered, but that went away when they updated their SW a bit ago.  I am a paying member of TXGA as well.

I even tried to re-register online w/ TAZ427 and it said that 3 char's wasn't long enough?  What?  That's 6 chars, 3 Alpha, 3 Numeric.  This is just messed up.  I sent them an e-mail on this and I haven't heard back. :tickedoff:

Maybe we need an IT guy to be President, but I can't even vote at this point :tickedoff:

mmcontish@texasgeocaching.com is the e-mail address.  Other option is to simply wait until challenge and vote on a paper ballot at that point.

This is frustrating to everyone.  The member registration errors are from PayPal failing to report back certain information.  This has been an issue for the last few weeks and I have the Technical Director working on the issues.  Believe me, he is unhappy about the issues as you are.  As Eagles1181 stated contact him directly and he will assist you.  I was going to make a joke about an IT guy for President.... but I don't know if I am willing to such a gamble....  I'm just say]in

@ Taz...write the IT guy, I had the same problem regarding being able to get in and he fixed it within a day.

There is still time Brent and you may need to make some *appearances* at various events!!  Good Luck!!

Since I am running unopposed for Executive Vice President, it probably isn't necessary to start a new thread.  I will just post my "candidate statement" here.

"I have had the privilege to serve as the Executive Vice President of the Texas Geocaching Association for since March 2011. My present term is over as of April 6, 2013; however, I am hopeful that you will let me continue to serve for another term.

The reasons that I wish to continue serving the TXGA are simple:
1) I believe that a strong TXGA is the best way to promote and protect the future of Texas geocachers
2) I hate leaving work unfinished. The current board has some exciting plans for the immediate future and I think it is important that some continuity is needed in order to keep those plans on track. Often during my first term, it has been necessary for the board to focus on internal initiatives. A great deal of time was spent on re-organizing the finances, website and other factors that were preventing the TXGA from being a true non-profit organization. That work is ongoing and I would like to see those initiatives through to their logical ends.

Are there things that I am disappointed in? Certainly. Mainly, I feel that we have been deficient in communicating with the membership. Due to the board’s inability to reach out, there have been many rumors and misunderstanding that have created situations that bog us all down and causes distrust and ill feelings.

Over the last two years, I believe that the TXGA has steadily moved forward. The association has taken an organization “in name only” and created a strong, functioning association fairly represented by members from across the state. Although many of you might feel that these and other changes have taken place slowly, I can attest to the fact that for a group of volunteers who have real lives and families to attend to, the Board functions extremely well and moves fairly rapidly.

As I start my second term, I pledge to continue to work on open communication between the board and the membership. I also will work diligently on behalf of the TXGA to improve the association in whatever capacity is required."

I am happy to announce that Matt says we have the root issue fixed. Paypal is now reporting back. However, that does not help those who have signed up since the conversion. If you are having trouble email Matt and he can manually fix it for you. Philip

Eagles1181 needs to spellcheck his email addresses before posting.  The correct email for the TXGA Technical Director Matt McIntosh is mmcintosh@texasgeocaching.com
