Little Cedar Bayou is in need of maint. Evidently someone found the .50 cal ammo can and dumped everything out and left. This one was placed 11/03/2001 by USMorrows and I know Sam's health is bad. It would be a real shame for it to fail. I'm thinking I might replace the container to keep it going, but if the same person who stole the can comes back...

Looks like it's been missing since at least April, so I'm sure the thief has long forgotten about it. Replace it with a lock-n-lock or some other low-cost option. I have one we can use.

One of the three months I need and the only one in the Houston Area. I will pitch in the Chain and Lock if someone wants to do the ammo can.

I think I'll contact Sam and if he is good with it, I'll use one of my cylindrical regular sized Wypall containers.

Well, I solved this one. Sam let me adopt it. I'm going over after work to replace the container.

That cache was my 29th find -- and I DNF'd it the first time around. Thanks for keeping it going!

Looks like ~58th for me. That was when it was necessary to travel a bit to find caches.

We found it on 3/7/2004. Don't know what # find it was, but it wasn't until our 3rd year of caching that we found it..

Here is a humorous update on the cache I adopted from USMorrows in La Porte:

Hi Bert. My name is Phillip Ferguson (PSFerguson) and Im new to Geocaching. Im sending you this because I think I know what may have happened to the first Little Cedar Bayou Cache that disapeared. I believe it was spotted by a muggle and reported to the police. From my understanding it was an ammo can and when it was spotted it looked out of place. There are a lot of people scared now days about terroristic threats and I have good reason to believe it was spotted and reported to the authorities. I can give you the full story if you like. From reading your post and seeing your pics I believe you have a good sence of humor and would get a real kick out of the story. Im writing you from work, if you would like to contact me, I can be reached at Phillip.ferguson@att.net or you can call me on my cell at 281-917-3044.

Phillip Ferguson
La Porte Texas

Phillip Ferguson sent me a voice message and said the police chief of La Porte and his son spotted the .50 cal ammo can and called in the bomb squad. After much to-do, they determined it was not a bomb, but had a log book and some swag and someone later told the chief it was a geocache. No one on the police force knew what a geocache was and after finding out, he was embarrassed and buried the story. The fellow above was looking for the replacement cache I put out and bumped into the chief while he walking and related the true story.

I know I've explained geocaching to at least one of LaPorte's finest. I was doing maintenance on the caches I have along Little Cedar Bayou and ran into a patrolman who was making sure I wasn't "some kids smoking dope". Apparently not much goes on in LaPorte, so they have to roust geocachers and blow up geocaches to keep from getting bored!
