So I have a GPS on my Android HTC DVO phone. The last time I went to an event I could not download any gps coords. Though I was emailed a map. Do you think I will have the same problem at this event? I know I can always hang with a group and I figured out how to input coords by hand but it would be nice to download it.

I had a similar problem with loading the GPX file to my HTC Desire-Z (T-mobile G2) at the time. Something about c:geo did not like the GPX file, though I've had no problems with GPX files that I've created w/ GSAK and I use the v1.1 format for GPX files.

c:geo only imported 13 of the caches. That said my Garmin Oregon 400T loaded them all. I'd still have preferred to have the info in my phone as I find it easier to use than c:geo. I can switch to my GPSr if needed.

EDIT: Anyone still have the GPX file from last years Texas Challenge? I'd like to see if it works w/ the current version of c:geo.

I have it. HGCS won't let me upload it, but I can email it to you.

Hey all! We are going to make it to this one. Hated to miss the last one, but life gets in the way sometimes.

How are things working with the coords and iPhones?

I'm not applying for the position. But here is my 2 cents, anyway.

For the Team Captain, you want:
1. someone with challenge experience (strategy, teamwork, delegation skills)
2. someone that is not competing (so they can be close to base camp where the decisions need to be made)

I am thinking we want to go to this. Since we are new(er) to caching I hesitate to be on the team but would be happy to if bodies are needed. Please fill me in as you can.

You are welcome to be on the team. You are also welcome to be on a support team (SETX has plenty). Once we get a team captain we will start getting organized. You will see planning meeting events start popping up, try to make it to at least a couple. I also was not able to attend last year, but just from conversations I know there is lots of room for everybody to be involved at whatever level they want to be.

Sign me up for communications again. I've already got some ideas on improving what I did last year.

Any reason you cannot do communications and team captain?

Didn't gsguru say last year she wanted to be Team Captain again? Is that still on the table, or is there a term limit?

No reason to abandon a winning strategy. Just ask her... she can't say no!

I won't be able to make the challenge this year because of the dates. Tealcat is willing to help as supporting staff.

FYI, the registration page is up. You will need to CREATE AN ACCOUNT since this for the Challenge only! You do NOT have to be a TXGA member to participate... we welcome everyone, especially any teams from Germany that want to come over and attempt to KICKEN ZEE COWBOY BUTTEN!

http://http://www.tx...gistration.com/

I just registered my attendance as well as purchased my items. I saw no issues with the process. Be sure and encourage all your friends to come and play.... let us try to keep the MEGA status for this annual event.

LOL.... i did raise my hand to be captain again this year if no one objects. We had a great team last year and have many new ideas to better our strategies for this year. I am camping at Mustang Island over Thanksgiving weekend to "scout" out the area. Let's start this ball rolling.

Let me know if anyone else wants to be captain and I will step aside. If not, I will move headlong forward!!
