This is the first TXGA non-competitive event.... sort of like the texas challenge, but with time to hang out with new and old friends.

The event page is: http://coord.info/GC3R68Z

The current planned activities are:

Things to do while you're there:

  • A Chili Cookoff
  • A Bake Off
  • Voting for official annual name of event
  • Saturday night event dinner ($8.50 per meal, Chicken Fried Steak!)
  • Location Accuracy Contest
  • Timed Find Contest
  • Blue Bell Creamery Tours
  • Creative Cache Contest
  • Other Fun and entertaining stuff.
  • CITO Event Sunday Morning http://coord.info/GC3TBR6

Are you going? Day trip or weekend? Anyone car-pooling? What do you think of the planned events?

Sounds like fun. I am not sure about camping but a day trip would be fun.

We should make it for part of the event. We have a commitment Friday night, so we won't be camping.

We're going. Working on coming up with a fun Geo-Trivia game as well to contribute to activities. Most likely camping overnight.

Is anyone going to take a kayak? There is a cache that is on an island near the event. Was wondering if anyone was going to try for it or not?

I'd love to go but I'm going to be in Ohio with my lovely bride -- watching her run 26.2 miles that day.

Jeff and I will be there for the day and dinner on Saturday. We are participating in the bake off, with a little help from my geomom. Georeyna, we don't have a kayak, but we have a little aluminum boat we might bring. Maybe Jeff can do a shuttle from the island and back. HA!

Anyone know what the water level is like? in some of the sat images, it looks like you can walk to the island cache.

They have been pulling the lake down all summer, but it appears not to be too bad. About 1.5 feet below max.

So we can walk to it? Bring the kayak just in case?

If you haven't already, be sure and post a WILL ATTEND so that the organizers can plan accordingly. See everyone there!!!!

I just checked Blue Bell's website. No weekend tours. Did TGCA arrange something special?
