Here are our tracks for 2011. Flatter terrain and we had to hike a mile to get to the first cache and hike a half mile back to the aid station.

Here's something a little different, helicopter view of our path during TC along with a few photos. I thought it was a cool way to see the caches we worked and the ones we passed on.

Stats and score in the description.

Total Finds: 23
Avg Difficulty = 2.91
Avg Terrain= 3.33
Distance: 7.75 miles (include initial drive to start)
Total Individual Score: 1435
x3 team contribution 4305pts

Awesome video. Great idea on how to show us your path. O0
Jason downloaded the track log for myself, AJ (Happyhunter99), cookcachers, and caching shark the other day but we haven't done much with it since.
We covered 7 miles during the Challenge, but not sure how much of that was by foot or by car: the short ride Elisa gave us in the beginning to get the FTF on a cache, or in the middle of the Challenge when Diane and Mrs HC picked us up as they were on the way to get Stan, and dropped us off at another trail location. Either way it seems like we covered a lot of ground!

Total finds: 35
Avg Difficulty = 2.77
Avg Terrain = 3.17
Distance: 5.7 miles
Total Individual Score: 2080 + 7 FTF Tokens
x7 team contribution 14560 + FTF points
Adventure777 x2, Betty Draper, Sky Rookie, thacatfish, geohiker, Manofsteel73

His numbers don't add up correctly. If you take his averages and multiply them back out by 23 and then by 10 they should have had around 1800 points each. Looking at the video they stopped at 25 or 26 caches so they had a few DNFs.

We (myself, zippertiff, dan&k8) covered 6.5 miles on bikes, scored 1120 points with zero FTF tokens (DNF'd our first two attempts). Hey, at least we scored more than the 2nd place team average! :coolsmiley:

Karen, good catch! I fat fingered the D/T average calcs in the spreadsheet. The final points remain accurate though. I corrected our D/T.

Yes, we visited 25 caches, but took two DNFs T012 at the very beginning, and another, T035, very close to the end. I didn't count DNFs in the average numbers.

The distance also includes the intitial drive out to the first cache where we ditched the vehicle and made our way back through the woods. I had to make a judgement call on whether to use that or not but I wanted people to see where we went from 10 until 2 and leave nothing out.

No FTFs or any other bonus points for us. Unfortunately, we were behind these "super cachers" who snatched all the FTF's before us (slight whining). We decided, rightly or wrongly, that multis were just too expensive time-wise. Also, we didn't leverage any txt/email solutions either which may have been a mistake. Our logic was that we were hitting high point value caches and we seemed to be in a decent rhythm or our team's abilities - present company excepted:)

This year I wanted to keep the scorers honest if need be, but also I wanted to be able to figure out how we can improve next year by analyzing our tactical errors. Obviously we have a lot to learn, but I'm really happy with our little team's performance even if it was in a kind of vacuum and perhaps a little random. In the end, we took what was given to us and it seemed to work out.

The one thing that we all kicked ourselves over was finding out that some guys playing frisbee at our turn-in stop was actually a cache! We had 14 minutes and we should have gotten that. I'm sure we missed lot's of other stuff too, but that one stung cause we know about it now. :)

BTW: If anyone else wants to calc their score and averages, you just need an accurate finds log from your GPSr or Phone, we have everything else you need.

This is truly an awesome group score. What an amazing - even intimidating - result, especially while considering the conditions during some of the event. I'd have to believe there's some records in here. Seriously glad you guys are on our side!

I would happy to compile them for you. I would really like to see a compiled list of scores. Even if we don't make it public we can use it for planning purposes.

That is supposed to be available to the captains, hence the reason they are holding the cards for a week. If you want to do that, ok. As long as nobody objects! heehee
