I stumbled across this while searching for more funny videos to load onto my Zune:

Real Men of Genius - Mr. Discount Airline Pilot Guy

Hhhhmmmm....I wonder who they are talking about...

>:D

:2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :D :D

I guess this one hit a little too close to home?  ???  ;) :D :D

Maybe I'm being dense (not unusual) but, how so?

Oh, I thought you were in the plane that was hopping up and down as it landed.  No wonder you need to keep your credentials upgraded!!  :2funny:

Geeze, mergers = bad, RJ's = bad...

There's just no pleasing some people!

::)

Seriously, though, I hope things don't change either.  I've only flown United once, but have flown CAL many times, besides working as a contractor for them before.  I appreciate the "Work Hard, Fly Right" philosophy.

As much as there is angst over the proliferation of RJ's, I personally do not hold any Dispatcher accountable for trying to make a living...not that that's what you've implied at all....I did a year at COEX when I left being an Ops agent in EWR so I know what it's like to dispatch Turboprops...the RJ's present different challenges, and no, we don't dispatch them.  The challenges being long stage length with limited resources.

By that I mean these airplanes don't afford the same operational latitudes because of their size...they ARE safe and are operated that way but you're not going to loiter for hours with one of those...and they don't have the same equipment to do low visibility approaches and autolands like the big iron.

My problem with them is primarily with the ATC issues.....

Ya know, OSC, that talking like that only encourages me to hound you and Texas Viking with even more questions and comments.

I'm glad yall indulge me in all the stuff I ask about in these posts.

Speaking of talking "nerdy," Cindy had to endure my brother-in-law and my conversation about the shuttle launch sequence.  He was a flight controller for NASA before moving onto the space station project.

"Remember Patrick, negative return happens after SRB sep, thus ruling out an RTLS abort.  Only a TAL abort is available if they can't press to orbit after ET sep or MECO."

All we got from Cindy was the classic
???  look just before calling both of us nerds.

As long as its confined to this one thread, I don't mind answering.  I got out of the habit a long time ago about talking about this stuff outside of work unless someone asks, then the flood gates trickle open.....

If there can be threads about beer and badgers, there can be threads about aviation...  ;)

OSC/Viking, do yall know (or more likely can yall say) what CAL's plans are regarding the 787?  I'd even listen to speculation.
