One of my friends and co-workers who I've known for about 15 years was one of the fallen at the show.  He lived in Friendswood and leaves behind a wife and two small children.

I'll miss him greatly.  :'(

I'm truly sorry for your loss. When I first heard about the details, I wondered if you knew him. Cindy and I will keep his family and YOU in our prayers.

Thanks, Lefty.  We're worried about his wife and children, too.

Here's a link:

He was also a great participant and contributor to the Wings Over Houston Airshow.  He will be missed for that effort as well.  And my prayers have gone out to his family since the incident.  I'll miss him.

Hey Lefty!

Well, it's the end of an era as Continental Airlines, as we know it, is gone. :'(

Here's a link to the last flight as it approached Newark...

Last month we flew from IAH to SFO. The outgoing flight was United and the return was Continental. The crews had not merged. The United crew only came by one time and refused to help with getting all the carryover luggage in the right place. They spent most of the time in the back of the plan socializing. The Continental crew came by several times and worked really hard to get all the carryover luggage in the overhead bins. Yes an end of the era. :disappoint:

Well, you know, it will take some time for our culture to permeate but it will....if you recall, Continental wasn't anything to be happy about before CEO Gordon Bethune came on in 1995....within a few years it was a LOT better....the challenge here is undoing a lot of years of mistrust at the "old" United for the way employees were treated....

Thanks for posting. Kind of depressing though. I certainly wish all my Continental friends and former business contacts the best through this merger.

Yes I remember that I did not like Continental and would always try to fly Southwest Airlines. They did do a complete turnaround.

I got an offer in the mail today for a Continental Airlines Presidential Plus Mastercard. I guess the airline still exists in the banking world...

Are they still just putting them on the long long hauls? Any chance on a domestic route?

I guess that makes sense, but I would love to fly one. Not much chance of me going to NZ or OZ any time soon.

Typically you might see something like that transition between hubs or move into position for maintenance but it's not likely you'll see many 787's operating domestically....Fortunately Houston is where it's launching from to Aukland and probably Lagos initially....
