I recieved a PM the other day asking why I wasn't too active lately...

D'oh!  Ya went and did it now....you know who you are!

This is really for OSC and Texas Viking, but of course all are welcome to throw your .02 in.

First of all, I like the new CO commercials, especially the "cloud" and "new arrival" commercials.  Too funny!  It reminds me of their famous "bake sale" commercial a few years ago.

Also, when flying to BWI a couple of weeks ago on WN (sorry, guys, they had the better fare) from HOU to BWI, I had my trusty Magellan eXplorist fired up.  Yes, we were above 10K feet
  Anyway, when I looked at the speed, the GPS indicated 620 mph!

:o

Knowing what little I know about the "air pig's" cruise speed (~ 514 mph for the -700 series) I wondered if my GPS was somehow wayyyy misreading something or other.  I was just about to check the satellite reception when the captain came on the PA and announced that we had a 100 knot tail wind working for us.

"Ahhhh," I thought, "that explains it!"

OK, so now I'm a bit more active.  No, this wasn't an earth shattering post, but hopefully some of the other aviation types would appreciate it.

Yeah, 620mph is cooking!  100kt tailwind will do that....the inverse is true if you were coming this way....where you really get clobbered is over the North Atlantic.......

One thing, though, if you wouldn't mind.....is use a different brand for your picture!  ;)

Hey, trust me....I love CAL!   O0  If I had my choice, I'd fly yall before flying anyone else...it's just that this particular time, WN really had the best fares to BWI.  When Cindy and I were booking this trip, we wanted to go to DCA for the convenience, but at that time, the fares were a bit too high.

Of course, for international purposes, I'd have to go with SQ for their service.

Thanks....I've got better ones of nicer airplanes but I don't want to hog up the forum with them...

Thanks, seriously, with today's prices fly whomever does the best job for the best fares...no worries.

SQ is a great airline.....

Heck, why not make this our official aviation/airliners thread?  I don't really want to pay the $$ to post on a-net, as cool as that site is.

Here's a nice 757-200 at EGE.  My ambulance station used to be right off the end of Rwy 25, off of Cooley Mesa Rd.

Woo hoo!

O0

Our own version of "a-net lite!"

Speaking of a-net, I found this one that I really like.  I remember flying SQ from SFO - SIN.  It was a 24 hr. journey.  We stopped in HNL and then HKG.  I remember it was a pretty squirrely approach into HKG, as this picture shows.

Ah man, I was gonna' post some awesome F-16 photos here, but all the files are too large!  Bummer!  This is the first thread I've seen that is aviation related.  Got excited there for a minute.  Oh well.

Do you have Microsoft Office Picture Manager?  That's usually included with MS Office, and it's easy to re-size pix using it.

Yeah, but it's not working right.  It says it'll compress the file, but then it still shows up as huge afterwards and the forums won't take it.  Oh well.  Sorry.
