Just found this list, and wow--I got nearly 50 caches in the last two months?!  I already have 10 in August too!

The big news will be if I break 300.  I have 291 on GC, and 8 on TC.  So, I am 1 or 9 away, depending on your viewpoint.

This is what happens during the soccer offseason.  Tomorrow starts refereeing season again, so who knows if I'll ever top 300 caches?  O0

Way to go Dave77459.  Someone will just need to start hiding some caches near soccer fields for you.

Have you seen this site for the Texas geocaching rankings? http://grand_high_po...et/Texas1.html
It's only geocaches though.

I was really irritated Sunday night.  Here's why.

I knew I was going to Lake Jackson on Sunday to referee, and I wanted to geocache.  I only have dialup at home now, so I downloaded everything on Friday at work.  What I missed were two new caches, placed Friday night.  One was three miles from where I reffed!  If I had only known, I could have snapped up FTFs on those caches.  As it was, I was so beat from running for five hours that I just headed home without even finding the five caches already there.  Rats.  ::)

BTW, they are erecting a huge Stephen F. Austin on 228 just north of LJ.  Looks set to rival the Sam Houston in Huntsville.

We got FTF on the one south of LJ....its a nice little cache, the other one "Its a Peach" is still available. It was getting close to dark, we weren't dressed for bushwhacking and there were too many spiders for me, bluck. As far as I know its still available.

Pepper, please keep an eye peeled for event caches in the area.  Meeting the local cachers here will make the sport that much more fun.  I have such a good time, that I travel to Beaumont for events! :)

Just ask Snoogans... its all about the people.

Considering the heat of August, more than 100 caches is quite an accomplishment.  One day I told geowyz that I would pass his total in two years.  I was just kidding, but for one month I tried to get 100 caches.  I fell short by a few caches and ended up with 95 of so.

Since Hurricane Rita came along and interrupted my method of collecting information on who has been busy finding caches in the Houston area (40-42 mile range), I am using a program that Jim Evans (THOT) and myself have worked up for catching who has been caching for the month and how many.

Many thanks goes to Jim and his help in developing this program.  You can look at it at  http://factsfacts.co...september.htm.

In coming up with the number of caches found during the month/and who found them, I was keeping track of some 900 caches in and around Houston that was in a 40-42 mile area of downtown.  Then I would list the cacher manually and post any finds for that cacher.  At the end of the month, I added up the caches found and reported the results in this topic.  From the data I collected, I could tell how local cachers were doing, who was hot, visitors from out of town, newcomers, and newcomers who are staying with the game and having fun.

The counts shown in THOT's program does not show cache found out of the Houston area.  My count that I list is based on Jim's program plus additional caches found in GC.com profile for that cacher.

Sometimes I would read the logs and found out if a cacher had made a milestone mark, had difficulty finding a cache, or had their first FTF experience.  Some had some interesting logs.

So with the help of THOT's program, here are the results for the month of September -

JIMMYEV has been near the top of monthly cachers for several month now, finding a total of 95 caches in and around the Houston area.  But he is still not the top cacher for the month of September,  RED EYE REBELS came in with at total of 201 caches found (or logged) for the month.  I don't know if the team found all of the caches during the month or had some they were holding back and not logging them in in the month of September or not.  Still that is quite a feat as well as JIMMYEV's 95 caches.  Hurricane Rita probably slowed down the action for a while.

FIVESECRETHUNTER (who has basically been geocaching since May 2005 and has found 233 since then) found 77 caches for the month
KIKIMEW (started caching in July 2005 and has found 105 caches) found some 50 caches for the month
911LADY (started caching in Aug 2005 and has found 75 caches) found 38 caches for the month
MAES (started in Feb 2005) added 38 caches for the month
JARIHEND (started in July 2005) came in with 41 caches found
MUDDY BUDDIES added 54 caches to their count and went over the 1400 mark
DAPLANE logged in 31 finds for the month
GEOREYNOZOS was busy finding 34 caches
TSBAND added 41 cache found and just started May 2005
BUBBAFUNK1992 has already found 27 to add to his count
TX SCROLLER (Another newcomer) logged in 25 caches found
TEAM TULIP also added to their count finding some 51 caches
COPPERFIELD ROSE logged in 25 caches found
ONESTEPCLOSER was able to locate some 22 caches (started in May 2005)
TEAMZZ came over from the Beaumont/Port Arthur to find 23 caches

Even with the Hurricane, some cachers had a good month

Don't worry, even if you had found over 200, somehow it must be related to cheating I suppose.  I guess I saw it coming..... :P

I don't think anyone is accusing you of cheating.  They are just surprised by the number.  I heard of some cachers who found 264 in a 24 hour period.  I have always wondered if yo guys cache as a group and why you always cache at night.  Just curious.  It is always harder at night.
