Congrats to my buddy Robin_1 on reaching 2 years in a row on his caching streak!  Keep it going.  You can do it.

Can we put milestones for hides?  I hid my first two caches today and I am so happy!  I can't stand waiting for the reviewers to publish!!  What if no one comes?  What if they are too easy?  What if they get muggled???  I feel like these are my little babies.  Be kind!

She's in Bellaire, so I assume the hides will be nearby...depending on when they pop, I might race you there.  Usually they've been popping after I'm in bed though.

I hope they pop about 11:30 pm. That's my favorite time to chase FTF's. :coolsmiley:

I placed them yesterday and the system said there would be a week before they were even looked at - so I was really surprised they popped last night.  Yeah to Texas Writer for FTF!  I am happily accepting all comments/suggestions on how to make my caches better!

Best,
rozowski5

Texas Writer - Congrats!  And do you tell your secrets?  How long did it take you and how far did you have to drive?  I rarely get an announcement about new caches so maybe there just aren't many in my area.

Texas Writer - Congrats!  And do you tell your secrets?  How long did it take you and how far did you have to drive?  I rarely get an announcement about new caches so maybe there just aren't many in my area.

I have no secrets:

  • I rarely sleep because I'm not normal.
  • I occasionally break speed limits.
  • I carry my mountain bike on my vehicle quite often....in case I need to jaunt down a bayou/creek trail.
  • I have a 40-mile notification area around my zip code.
  • I will pretty much go anywhere from swamp to tree-climbing to grab an FTF. As long as it doesn't involve scuba diving....I'm certified but have one ear that doesn't cooperate.
  • I have a wife who supports and enables my FTF addiction. Lol

For whatever it's worth, I don't chase FTF's for the sake of beating anyone else there. I'm just kind of a purist about caching. I want to find a cache with the GZ being just the way the hider intended...before the hide/container/location get compromised, before there are hints, before there is a geo-trail leading right to the cache, before GZ is trampled or destroyed by someone who doesn't care, etc. The downside to chasing FTF's is that I often get to scout locations to see which ones draw out law enforcement, coords way off (CornDoll and I found one 1.3 miles off...true story), alarms that get tripped (thanks Cyborg-TEK...lol), etc. But I love the FTF part of the game.

This  topic "MILESTONES" has reached a Milestone of its own.  Just noticed that this TOPIC recently went over 100,000 hits/views since the beginning in 2005.  I am pleased with the response/contributions it has gathered over the years.  It may be the longest existing topic on the HGCS site.
